DODGE CITY - Clarence G. Flax, 83, died October 12, 2013 at his home in Lakin. He was born on February 2, 1930 at Ellis, the son of Albert and Elizabeth (Ashenbrenner) Flax.
Clarence was the 8th child of 14 (8 boys and 6 girls). On June 13th, 1956 he married Marilyn Klaus in Antonino. In 1991 he retired from W.W. Manufacturing and started his own lawn care service.
He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Knights of Columbus Council # 2955, Moose Lodge, and Sunflower Polka Club all of Dodge City.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Marilyn Flax of Lakin; two sons, David Flax of Kalvesta and Dennis Flax and wife Kristi of Rose Hill; two daughters, Clarice Rilinger and husband Kenny of Lakin and Dolores "Dee Dee" Herrera of Dodge City; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; six siblings, Anna, Alfred, Agnes, Lawrence, Freda, and Albert, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Allen Flax; and seven siblings, Lizzy, Theresa, Joe, Phillip, Willie, Rosie and Tony.
Vigil service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 7:00 P.M.. Funeral mass will be held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Ted Skalsky presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 from noon to 7:00 P.M.. Memorials are suggested to Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe or High Plains Retirement Village Special Care Unit both in care of the funeral home.
