Obituary

Dodge City - Clarence O. Wright Jr., 72, died September 24, 2018 at his home in Dodge City.  He was born on March 24, 1946 at Topeka, the son of Clarence O. Wright, Sr. and Billie D. (Payne) Pope.

Clarence was born and raised in Topeka and was a graduate of Topeka High School. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. After the war he continued to serve in the Army and Army National Guard for over 20 years. On May 29, 1988 he married Sandra Foote in Dodge City. Clarence was a Medical Records Technician at the Kansas Soldiers Home until his retirement in 2008.

He was a member of the Hanna Memorial Church of God in Christ of Dodge City and the Howard Burnett Post#1520, V.F.W. and Howard Gotschall Post #1714, V.F.W.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Sandra L. Wright of Dodge City; two daughters, Edwinna Kimble of Columbus, Missouri and Amanda Goolsby and husband Christian of Hutchinson; daughter-in-law, Lucia Granados of Wichita; eight grandchildren, Crayton, Ayana, Naya, Yazmine, Yamirra, Phillip, Caydence and Ayden; four siblings, Gregory Chatfield, Linda Y. Wright-Davis, Karen Parker, and Tanya Y. Elliott and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Christopher Wright and Adrian Foote, and a sister, Gayle Cay.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Saturday September 29, 2018 at 2:00 PM with Elder Everett Ponder and Elder Levert Owens presiding.  Inurnment will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 1, 2018 at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery,  Ft. Dodge with Military Rites by Howard Gotschall Post and KSANGR Military Honors.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Friday September 28, 2018 from Noon to 8:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to the Grandchildrens Education Fund in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
