Obituary

Cleora Ann (Robinson) Gough, 90, died quietly on Saturday, July 4, 2009 at her home in Denver, Colorado with her husband and best friend holding her hand and Grace, their beloved caregiver beside her. She was born on December 26, 1918 on the family farm 10 miles south of Dodge City, the daughter of Irvin William and Florence Elizabeth (Adams) Robinson.

Annie was raised on the family farm and attended elementary school in a one room school house east of the farm with her older brothers June and Frank. She graduated from Dodge City High School in 1938. After finishing cosmotology school in Dodge, she moved to Hutchinson to work in Roy's Beauty Shop on Main Street. She fell in love and married Roy's son, Billy Gough on March 8, 1941. He survives. Their marriage was performed in Carry Park soon after a snowstorm. They went back to work that afternoon. Their love story was picked up by the United Press and found its way to the New York Times among other news papers of the time. Billy was drafted into the Army soon after their marriage and started training at various camps around the country. Annie followed to each place. After the war, they settled in Denver in 1945 where their first son Bill was born. They briefly lived in McCalaster, Oklahoma where their second son, Roy, and daughter, Linda were born. The family moved back to Denver in 1952 where they set up housekeeping and have lived ever since. Annie survived the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl years of the early 1930's, World War II, the Korean Conflict, and raising two children.

In addition her her husband, Annie is survived by one son, Bill; one daughter, Linda; three grandchildren, Kerryann, Liz, and David; four great grandchildren, Rian, Rory, Alexandra, and Emma; and one brother, June Robinson. She was preceded in death by an infant son Roy and a brother, Frank.

Graveside service will be held at Concord Cemetery, Ford County, on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Dick Robbins presiding.
