Obituary

Cody Wayne Hanna, 43, died October 23, 2022, in Phoenix, Arizona, after a two year battle with cancer. Cody was born in Dodge City, Kansas, on June 9, 1979, the son of Michael S. Hanna and Nancy Foulks Hanna.

The family lived in Cimarron, Kansas and the surrounding area until moving to Manhattan, Kansas in 1987. Cody and his sisters, Abby and Heidi, attended Lee Elementary in Manhattan until 1996, when his mother, sisters, and Cody moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Cody graduated from Shadow Mountain High School in Phoenix in 1998. Cody worked at Fry's Grocery Store in Phoenix from 2002 to 2018, a job he was proud of. He also volunteered at the VA Hospital and St. Mary's Food Bank in Phoenix.

Cody was our "gadget man. He loved computers, cell phones, and any attachments that went with them, on them, or for them. Cody was an avid movie watcher and sports fan and enjoyed football, basketball, and baseball. He enjoyed KU football and basketball, (his mother was a KU graduate), much to his dad's dismay (a K-State graduate). Cody was well loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and fellow residents at Everlasting Services. He taught us all the true meaning of strength and kindness and kept us all laughing with his signature one-liners.

Cody is survived by his mother, Nancy Foulks Hanna and partner Jan Robertson, of Dewey, Arizona; father, Dr. Mike Hanna, stepmother Jennifer Hanna, and half-sister Aubrie Hanna of Leigh, Nebraska; sisters, Abby Judkins of Phoenix, Arizona and Heidi (Jordan) Johnson of Tekamah, Nebraska; three nephews; four nieces; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charley and Barbara Foulks, and paternal grandparents, Vernon and Emma Hanna.
