Obituary

Copeland – Cornelius "Holtz" Krahn Peters, 30, died June 20, 2024 at his home in Copeland, surrounded by his family.  He was born on August 26, 1993 in Cuauhtémoc, Mexico, the son of Cornelius and Elizabeth (Krahn) Peters.

Holtz moved with his family to the United States in 1999.  The family moved to the Plains/Kismet area where he attended school.  Holtz finished high school through the learning center in Sublette, graduating in 2010.  On April 16, 2016, he was united in marriage to Darbie Gerow in Dodge City.  To this union a daughter, Tinsley, was born.  Holtz worked for Jeff Unruh and Unruh Farms near Copeland until his illness no longer allowed it.

He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, hiking, and traveling.  Holtz loved spending time with his family.  One of the things he was most proud about was getting his US citizenship in 2021.  Holtz was a hardworking man who would do anything for his family.  He was a master at fixing things that most people wouldn't see as fixable.

Holtz is survived by his wife Darbie of the home; a daughter, Tinsley of the home; his parents, Cornelius and Elizabeth Peters of Sublette; five siblings, Maria Wolfe and husband John of Paris, Texas, Abram Peters and wife Sara of Montezuma, John Peters and wife Emmi of Paris, Texas, Lisa Loewen and husband Ricky of Lakin, and Annie Peters of Sublette; in-laws, Denny and B.G.
