Obituary

Cimarron - Curtis Campbell, 78, died September 3, 2025 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was born on June 12, 1947 at Kansas City, Missouri the son of Luther and Letha (Cade) Campbell.

Curt graduates from Atchison High School in 1965. He went on to further his education first at Benedictine College graduating in 1969 and Washburn University School of Law,  completing his law degree in1975.

On June 9, 1984, Curtis married Audrey Froelich in Dodge City. A long time and well known Cimarron resident, Curt practiced law for 50 years and also served as the Gray County Attorney for 48 years. He was a hard working man and respected attorney, known for his dapper dress and teasing of family and friends. Curtis was a lifelong learner who enjoyed reading and history. He could often be found riding his Harley or participating in shooting sports. Most of all, Curt was very devoted to his family. His legacy of respect and generosity touched everyone who knew him.

He was a member of the Kansas Bar Association, NRA, and the Masonic Lodge.

Curtis is survived by his wife, Audrey of Cimarron; four sons, Clayton Campbell and wife Rachel of Cimarron, Justin Jarnagin and wife Amber of Cimarron, Jared Jarnagin and wife Denise of Highland Ranch, Colorado, and Ian Campbell and wife Kasha of Prairie Village; three daughters, Issa Garcia and husband PePe of Cimarron, Cassie Bice and husband J.L. of Dodge City; and Carrie Campbell of Lakewood, Colorado; a sister, Martha Jo Campbell of Cimarron;15 grandchildren, Callie Losey, Cammie Losey, Issa Sommer, Jessica Acton, Kaitlyn Jarnagin, Sydney Jarnagin, Kennedy Jarnagin, Jack Jarnagin, Quinn Campbell, Chase Jarnagin, Colby Jarnagin, Reese Campbell, Karlee Jarnagin, Cade Campbell, and Crosby Campbell; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dale Campbell; and a sister-in-law, Vicki.

Memorial service will be held at the Gray County Recreation Center, Cimarron on Monday, September 8, 2025 at 10:30 AM. There is no visitation as cremation will take place. Memorials are suggested to the Kansas Soldiers Home Activity Fund or the American Cancer Society in care of Swaim Funeral Chapel.
