Dodge City - Curtis Dean Schriner, 62, died July 2, 2022 at his home. He was born on June 29, 1960 in Dodge City, the son of Raymond R. and Ruth (Katt) Schriner.
Curt spent his childhood in Ensign. He played basketball, football, and baseball at Ensign High School. Curt graduated in May of 1978. He began his work career after high school at Broce Construction in Dodge City. Curt then went to work for Ford County Road Department, where he helped to build and maintain roads in Ford County. On September 10, 1983, Curt was united in marriage to Melora Richardson in Dodge City.
Curt and Melora made their home in Dodge City. Together they raised two children, Clinton and Lauren. Curt was very active in his children's lives, often coaching their sports teams. He enjoyed attending their activities. Curt was also an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals fan. He also enjoyed hunting pheasants, golfing, and coaching little league baseball and various Special Olympics teams. His smile and laugh will be missed by many.
Curt is survived by his wife, Melora of Dodge City; two children, Clinton Schriner of Manhattan and Lauren Schriner of Dodge City; his mother, Ruth Porter and husband Norman of Johnson; brother, Stan Schriner and wife, Jeannie of Jetmore; mother-in-law, Shirley Richardson of Dodge City; sister-in-law, Sheila Blankenship and husband Warren of Ardmore, Oklahoma; step-mother, Idella Schriner of Dodge City, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond; a brother, Tim Schriner, and his father-in-law, Jack Richardson.
Funeral service will be held at Dodge City Church of the Nazarene on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at 10:30 AM with Mr. Jeff Hiers presiding. Friends and family are welcome to wear their favorite sports team shirt. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from noon to 8:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 5-7 PM. Memorials are suggested to Circle of Hope Cancer Support Group or Ford County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
