DODGE CITY - C. W. Abney, 77, died Monday, February 22, 2010 at his residence at Dodge City. He was born on June 18, 1932 at Waskom, Texas, the son of Albert and Annie Bell (Washington) Abney. Mr. Abney grew up in Jefferson and came to Dodge City in 1965. On March 25, 2966 he married Mona Murray at Miama, Oklahoma. She survives. He was a truck driver for Northend Disposal for 36 and a half years. Mr. Abney enjoyed fishing and being with his grandchidren.

He attended Hanna Memorial Church Of God In Christ at Dodge City.
Survivors include his wife Mona Abney of the home; a son Michael Abney of Dodge City; a daughter Michala Abney of Dodge City; two grandsons Anthony Rodriguez and Jayden Pike; and a granddaughter Leora Kennedy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter Aimee Monique Abney and a granddaughter Angel Milean Abney Kennedy.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 26, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Maple Grove Cemetery of Dodge City with Rev. David Smith presiding. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 25th from Noon to 8:00 P.M. and on Friday, February 26th from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M..
