IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cyrus Anthony
Koehn
November 22, 2022 – December 26, 2022
Our beautiful son, Cyrus Anthony Koehn, was born to us, Rick and Tamra, on November 22, 2022. He went to be with God on December 26, 2022. He was four weeks old.
Like most parents, we expected a healthy baby, but in the days after Cyrus was born, we saw him struggling. He was flown from Liberal to Wichita, then on to Kansas City. The medical teams were superb and worked hard to get his struggling little body functioning well. God was very near.
Medical answers were slow in coming, and while we waited, we snuggled Cyrus tight, sang to him, and saw his strong and feisty personality. We spent those days pouring our love into our little boy, and dreaming of the day we could bring him home with a healthy heart. We longed to hear those indignant baby cries that were silenced by the vent. December 22 we got a call from the genetics team that our son had myofibrillar myopathy, a rare and fatal degenerative muscle disease. With broken hearts, Cyrus's family took the time to tell him goodbye. The ventilator was removed on Christmas Day. It seemed fitting to us that we would surrender our son to God on the day we remember Him giving His Son to us. We held him in our arms until Jesus took him into His.
We have been deeply comforted by God's presence, our family, and our friends. God is here to help heal our wound. "The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord."
Left to mourn on earth are his parents, Rick and Tamra; paternal grandparents Tony & Marsha Koehn, Montezuma; and maternal grandparents Vern & Carol Koehn, Texhoma, Oklahoma; aunts and uncles, Sally and husband Ruben Blatz, Montezuma, Brooke and husband Josh Mastre, Soldotna, Alaska, Vance and wife Angela Koehn, Texhoma, Texas, Trent Koehn, Texhoma, Oklahoma, and Tara Koehn, Texhoma, Oklahoma. Cyrus has eight cousins on earth and one in heaven.
