Obituary

Dale D. Durr, 83, died on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains in Dodge City. He was born on July 2, 1926 in Hodgeman County, the son of Lester S. and Clara (Maskus) Durr.

He received the Sacrament of Holy Baptism and Confirmation at St. Michael's Lutheran Church in rural Hodgeman County. Dale attended elementary school at Prairie Home School in Hodgeman County and graduated from Jetmore High School in 1944. He was a farmer and rancher and a lifelong resident of the Dodge City area. He owned and operated Durr Feedyards in Hodgeman County. Dale was also a certified real estate broker.

Dale was united in Christian marriage to Mary Marr Evert on October 16, 1950 at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Dodge City. They made their home together on a farm in Hodgeman County until her death on October 23, 1971. He then married Dorothy Teders on August 28, 1975 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Dodge City. They made their home in Dodge City.

Dale was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Dodge City . He was a 20 year board member of Victory Electric Co-op of Dodge City and a 10 year board member of Sunflower Electric Co-op of Hays as well as a past board member of Farmers Home Administration.

Dale is survived by his wife, Dorothy Durr of Dodge City; two sons, Randy Durr of Newton and Michael Teders and wife Mary of San Antonio, Texas; four daughters, Becky Gray and husband Keith of Henderson, Nevada, Terrie Fitch of St. Joseph, Missouri, Sandi Weber of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Donna Berger of Seattle, Washington; one sister, Helen Glover of Amarillo, Texas; one brother, Galen Durr and wife Ruth of Dodge City; 12 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. In addition to his first wife, Mary, Dale was preceded in death by one brother, Glen and one sister LaVerne Rabourn.

Funeral service will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Dodge City, on Friday, February 26, 2010 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Randall Jahnke presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, on Thursday, February 25, 2010 from noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials can be made to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church Building Fund or to Hospice of the Prairie in care of the funeral home.
