Dale LeRoy Rowley, Sr., 84, died Monday, January 11, 2010 at Via Christi St. Francis Campus in Wichita. He was born on July 6, 1925 in Eskridge, the son of Norton B. and Grace May (Hill) Rowley.
Dale served in the United States Army during World War II. On June 25, 1949, he married Martha June Wilcox in Dodge City. She preceded him in death on March 29, 1991. They lived in Dodge City from 1949 to 1965. In 1965, they moved to Ford where he has resided since. Dale worked for the Dodge City COOP in the feed department and for Ford County Feedyard.
He was a member of Howard Gotschall Post #1714 V.F.W. of Dodge City and the American Legion of Bucklin.
Dale is survived by one daughter, Sue Rowley of Ford; two daughters-in-law, Linda Rowley of Garden City, and Brenda Rowley of Dodge City; seven grandchildren, Eric Rowley and wife Shelly, Brandy Rowley, Monika Rowley, Shawanna Rowley, Jordan Rowley all of Garden City, Justin Littrel of Dodge City, and Jennifer McCarley and husband Finice of Greensburg. In addition to his wife, Martha, Dale is preceded in death by two sons, Dale Rowley, Jr. and Kelvin W. Rowley.
Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, on Friday, January 15, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dick Robbins presiding. Burial will follow at Ford Cemetery in Ford, with military rites by Howard Gotschall Post #1714 V.F.W. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, January 14, 2010 from noon to 8:00 PM.
