DANIEL LEE HAYS

Dodge City - Daniel L. " Danny " Hays, 83, died July 2, 2014 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains, Dodge City. He was born on May 22, 1931 at Jetmore, Kansas, the son of Herald and Mary Berger Hays.

Mr. Hays grew up in Hodgeman county , and attended schools in Jetmore. He later attended one year at Fort Hays State University. He married Norma Jean Ehrlich on October 22, 1950 at Jetmore. She survives. He farmed in Hodgeman County for thirty eight years, and later owned and operated a hog business there for an additional seventeen years. He was also a dog breeder for several years. In 1986, they moved to Dodge City where they remained.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Dodge City.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Hays, daughters, Carol and husband Gary Johnson, Dodge City, Cindy and husband John Carson, Greensburg, grandchildren, Jennifer and husband Sam Naumann, Coldwater, Christopher Stewart and fiance Heather Freeman, Manhattan, Ryan Johnson, Morristown, New Jersey; Matthew Johnson and companion, Molly Amaro, Minneola, and two great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, Dodge City, on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 10:00 AM with Mr. Barney Korbelik presiding. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Jetmore. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, on Friday, July 4, 2014 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
