Obituary

Dodge City - Daniel "Poe" Snyder, 96, died September 5, 2018 at Trinity Manor Nursing Home, Dodge City.  He was born on November 20, 1921 in rural Ford County, the son of Fredrick Luther and Leah Darline (Ford) Snyder.

Poe grew up on the family farm northwest of Dodge City and attended school through the 8 th grade at a country school house in rural Ford County near Dodge City. He served in the United States Army during WWII. He worked at various jobs through his life including construction and maintenance. Poe enjoyed many activities throughtout his life including flying airplanes, working on automobles, and he took great pride in finding value in things others had discarded.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dodge City.

Poe is survived by brothers, Noble Snyder of Dodge City, Ross "RG" Snyder and wife Norma of Ford; a sister, Delores Phillips of Macksville and  number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Luther and Angus Snyder and two infant brothers; and sisters, Bernice Boehme, Wanda Leasure, and Virginia Snyder.

Graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery on Tuesday September 11, 2018 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Steve Ormond presiding. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Monday September 10, 2018 from Noon to 8:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie or First Baptist Church both in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
