Obituary

WRIGHT - Danny Jewell Cox, 69, died December 19, 2016 at his home in Wright. He was born at home in Pocahontas, Arkansas on October 3, 1947 the son of Freda J. Cox and Pearlie Mae (Clark) Wakeman.

Danny is survived by his wife Dana Cox of Wright; a daughter, Dana J. Cox of Dodge City; a son, Collin Cox of Wright; brother, Tim Cox of Dodge City; sister, Donna Esquibel of Dodge City; four grandsons, Waydan and Tyler Cox of Dodge City and Nathan and Trenton Bantock of Littleton, Colorado; two step sons, Justin and Christopher Bantock of Littleton, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Rossi and Julie Cox; a brother, Sammy Cox; a sister, Diane Ward and brother-in-law, Gary Esquibel.

Danny loved to tell stories, read any book out there, but most of all hated to watch sports. Westerns were his choice to watch. Danny moved to Dodge City during junior high and attended Dodge City Senior High, and later received his GED. Danny loved to learn though. Danny would say his early years formed who he was going to be and not be. He had so many different paths to take, many experiences and struggles, which we know shaped him in the man we all love today. We all have heard those stories. Amongst his many jobs, he worked at Hy Plains Dressed Beef (National Beef) and was a roughneck into his 40s. As he was working at National Beef, Danny also started Danny Cox Painting which eventually became Cox Painting Inc which still operates today. Danny made friends wherever he would go, he didn't know a stranger. Danny was loyal, truthful, loving, funny, simple, and our love for him has no bounds. Danny's final struggle is now over, he is pain free, fear free, and has gone home to be with his Lord. He will be with us always, in our stories, in our hearts. We were graced with his presence everyday. Danny J. Cox you were a true gentleman, and you will be sorely missed.
