Dodge City - Darlene S. Young, 79, died August 23, 2018 at her home in Dodge City. She was born on August 31, 1938 the daughter of William Stout and Velma Ruddick.

She married James Franklin Young on August 9, 1963 in Burlington, Kansas. he preceded her in death on August 3, 1984. Darlene worked as a Teller for Fidelity Bank and the Credit Union both of Dodge City. She loved sewing, crocheting, playing the piano and spending time with her family.

She was a member of the Howard Gotschall V.F.W. Post #1714 Ladies Auxiliary of Dodge City.

She is survived by three daughters Christine Frey and husband Randy of Dodge City; Shelly Young of Gardner; Jamie Swafford and husband Brian of Wichita; two sons Robert Young and wife Billie Jean of Bentonville, Arkansas; Gary Joe Young and wife Bridget of Lowell, Arkansas. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister Dixie DiPaolo, infant daughter Rona Schraeder and stepmother Verlie Stout.

Memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Saturday September 1, 2018 at 10:00 AM with Mr. Jeff Hiers presiding. Inurnment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.  Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie in care of the funeral home.
