Kismet - David Owen Cotton, 78, died January 13, 2014 at his home. He was born on January 3, 1936 in Liberal, the son of Albert E. and Gertrude Ann (Berghaus) Cotton.
David graduated in 1954 from Kismet High School. He then attended Dodge City Community College for one year. On July 7, 1956, he married Nancy Joan Light. High school sweethearts, they enjoyed years of love and laughter together. David and Nancy made their home on the farm south of Sublette. He was a farmer and rancher and enjoyed horse racing as well as auto racing.
David is survived by his wife Nancy of the home, two daughters, Robin Waldron and husband Tom of Sublette and Kelly Langer and husband Tom of Topeka; six grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral service will be held at Sublette Methodist Church on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 10:30 AM with Dr. Kent Scott ande Dr. Jerry Dupuis presiding. Burial will follow at Banner Cemetery in rural Seward County. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Sublette on Thursday, January 16, 2014 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Sublette United Methodist Church or St. Catherine's Hospice in care of the funeral home.
