Obituary

Montezuma - David W. Foskuhl, 67, died January 26, 2021 at Western Plains Medical Center in Dodge City. He was born on June 7, 1953 in Dodge City, the son of John E. and Ruth (Gaskill) Foskuhl, Sr.

David's childhood was spent in Dodge City. He attended Dodge City High School and Ford High School. Dave worked as an electrician and for a cable television company. In 1980, he went to work for the City of Meade as a city police officer. in 1981, Dave moved to Montezuma and went to work for the Gray County Sheriff's office. He completed the police academy in 1982. He was a Gray County deputy for 23 years, finishing his law enforcement career as undersheriff. After he retired, Dave went to work for USD 371 driving school bus and was also the transportation supervisor. He also was serving as the city police officer for the City of Montezuma. On November 1, 1991, he married Candace McGrew. She survives. Dave was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed golf, carpentry, and tinkering with cars and motorcycles.

Dave is survived by his wife Candace of Montezuma; children, June Malin of Newton, Michael Foskuhl and wife Cadon of Plattville, Colorado, Richard Foskhul and wife Amanda of Montezuma, Alicia Sader and husband Scott of Lawrence, Adrian Vogel and wife Corie of Kansas City, Adam Vogel of Tampa, Florida, and Devin Werner and husband Chris of Cimarron; two sisters, Renee Lantz of Dodge City and Judy Leimkuhler of Kansas City; a brother, Jerome Foskuhl and wife Charlene of Ensign; 11 grandchildren; and one great granddaughter. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, David John Foskuhl and Jody Strother; and a brother, John Foskuhl.

Book signing will be on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Montezuma.  A family memorial service will be held on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 2:30 PM with Mr. Ken Harder presiding. Family and friends may watch the service on a live stream via Swaim Funeral Chapel's Facebook page. Burial will be at a later date. There is no visitation as cremation has taken place.
