Obituary

Dodge City, KS – It is with great sadness that the family of Davie Lynn Lloyd, age 72, announce his passing March 16, 2024, at his home in Dodge City.  He was born on August 25, 1951 in Dodge City, the son of Roland Davie and Dolores Juanita (Johnson) Lloyd.

Davie was a lifetime resident of Dodge City, graduating from Dodge City High School in 1969.  He worked for Crustbuster/Speed King as an engineer and draftsman, before switching to sales and service. He worked there for over 30 years before retiring.  Davie married Georgia (Brickey) Meyerpeter and became dad to her three children, Mike, Terri and Joann. They divorced after 29 years of marriage.

Davie was big-hearted, vibrant, artistic and radiated light. He accepted everyone with an open heart, open arms and a contagious smile. Davie will be remembered for all the love he shared with his family and friends. He was always willing to help his family. Davie enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and sharing his amazing cooking skills with others. Most of all, Davie loved fishing and sprint car racing with his grandsons, Tyler and Jordan. In his younger days, Davie was a gunfighter at Boot Hill, played pool, poker and softball with a huge circle of friends.

Davie is survived by three children, Mike Meyerpeter and wife Charlotte of Crescent, Iowa, Terri Mujica of Maple Grove, Minnesota, and Joann Knight and husband Scott of Wright, Kansas; and a very special friend and Companion, Toni Dobbins of Dodge City. Davie was blessed with five grandsons; Brandon Galindo (Kassendra), Tyler Knight (Erica), Gerald Meyerpeter (Megan), Daniel Mujica (Luke), and Jordan Knight (Kaylee). He was also blessed with four great grandchildren; Calvin, Conrad and Clark Galindo, Bristol Knight and another special blessing on the way from Jordan and Kaylee. Davie is survived by his sister Kay Deaver (Denny) of Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Norma Clare and brother Alan Lloyd. Davie will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 10:00 AM with Mr. Jeff Hiers presiding.  Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Friday, March 22, 2024 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
