Dodge City - Dean L. Harms, 77, passed away on October 3, 2023 at SunPorch Nursing Home in Dodge City, Kansas.  He was born on July 28, 1946 in Dodge City, the son of George and Ruth Harms.

He worked as an electrical lineman for 35 years. He married his grade school sweetheart, Susan Pearl Craghead in 1966; they were married for 57 years. She preceded him in death on July 20, 2023.

He was an active member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Dodge City where he served as an usher for many years. Dean was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed camping. Most of all he enjoyed socializing with his friends and family.

He is survived by his children, Diane Dahna of Dodge City and Bryan Harms (Diane) of McKinney, Texas; his sister, Donna Salmans of Jetmore; three grandchildren, Amanda Dahna of Wichita, Dylan Harms (Vivian) of McKinney, Texas, and Demi Harms of McKinney, Texas; and many extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Susan Pearl Harms; and two siblings, Gordon Harms and Darrel Harms.

Funeral service will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Randall Jahnke presiding.  Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Jetmore.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Friday, October 6, 2023 from noon to 8:00 PM with family receiving friends from 5-7PM.  Memorials are suggested to Holy Cross Lutheran Church in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
