DELBERT LYNDAL MILLS
Dodge City - Delbert Lyndal Mills, 87, died October 12, 2014 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. He was born on September 26, 1927 at Nekoma the son of Owen Lambert and Minnie Elnora (Baldwin) Mills.
Mr. Mills graduated from LaCrosse High School, Dodge City Community College, and Fort Hays State University. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On April 7, 1963 he married Norma Jean Burdue in Dodge City. She preceded him in death on January 29, 2010. Delbert worked nearly 40 years for the Santa Fe Railroad and also managed the Railway Employees Credit Union in Dodge City for 25 years.
He was a member of the First Christian Church and Howard Gotschall Post #1714 V.F.W. both of Dodge City.
Delbert is survived by three sons, Chris & Craig Mills of Dodge City, and Everett Mills and wife Jennifer of Kansas City; three brothers, George Mills and wife Ladena of Oklahoma City, OK,
Bernard Mills and wife Ruth of Brush, CO, and Arlyn Mills and wife Gail of Longmont, CO; three sisters, June Greathouse of Hutchinson, Diora Sandstrom of Tulsa, OK, and Lorrayne Eveleigh and husband Bob of Great Bend; three grandsons, Jon, Steven, and Christian; one granddaughter, Victoria; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Trilby Mills; and two brothers-in-laws, Jerry Greathouse and Ted Sandstrom.
Funeral service will be held at First Christian Church in Dodge City on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. with Dr. Phil Scott presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, October 16, 2014 from 12:00 - 8:00 P.M.. Memorials are suggested to Meals On Wheels in care of the funeral home.
