Dodge City - Denise Hargett, 73, died June 2, 2018 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. She was born on April 28, 1945 at Sublette, Kansas the daughter of Sam and Fern (Derby) Hollopeter.

Denise was raised in Sublette and attended Sublette grade school and high school. She started working at the drug store in Sublette when she was twelve years old. She worked as a Special Ed Para and city judge in Texas.  She retired as a pharmacy tech at the Montezuma Drugstore in 2011. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved southern gospel concerts.

She was a member of the Church of The Nazarene in Sublette and attended Grace Community Church in Dodge City serving in numerous capacities. On September 4, 1965 she married Wendell Hargett, he preceded her in death on April 1, 2018.

She is survived by two sons Delwin Hargett and wife Andrea of Pratt; Chris Hargett of Dodge City; son-in-law Derek Ludlam of Wichita; two grandchildren Kathryn Ludlam and Michael Ludlam both of Wichita. She is also survived by two brothers Tom Hollopeter of Cassville, Missouri and Sam Hollopeter and wife Sandi of Pueblo West, Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Stacy Ludlam and her parents.

Funeral service will be held at Grace Community Church on Thursday June 7, 2018 at 1:30 PM with Pastor Kirk  Larson presiding.  Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Montezuma.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 from 12:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Grace Community Church or Circle of Hope of Dodge City in care of the funeral home.
