Obituary

Dodge City - Dennis Lee Rehmert, 80, died March 9, 2020 at The Ranch House Senior Living.  He was born on September 2, 1939 in Dodge City, the son of Louis Herman and Thelma (Duncan) Rehmert.

Dennis spent his early childhood in Burdett.  In 1957, he graduated from Hanston High School.  Dennis served in the National Guard.  On July 12, 1957, he married Barbara Joann Rudzik in Gainesville, Texas.  They moved to Dodge City in 1961.  Dennis owned and operated Rehmert Trucking, hauling sand and grain until his retirement in 2010.  Dennis enjoyed restoring classic cars. He restored and owned more than 80 different cars.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Dodge City.

Dennis is survived by his wife Joann of Dodge City; two children, Denece Boyd of Wright and Tony Rehmert and wife Melanie of Dodge City; a sister, LaDonna Joyce Evert of Longmont, Colorado; four grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Terri Pint; son-in-law, Bart Boyd; and a brother, Bob Rehmert.

Memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City on Saturday March 14, 2020 at 10:30 AM.   There is no visitation as cremation has taken place. A private family burial will be at a later date.  Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Hospital in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
