Dodge City - Dennis Wayne Rumford, 70, died September 27, 2024 at his home in Dodge City.  He was born on April 11, 1954 in Dodge City, the son of Orland and Lula (Hendrickson) Rumford.

Dennis was a longtime resident of Dodge City, graduating from Dodge City High School in 1972.  While in high school, Dennis worked at the Cinema Circle and the South Drive-in Theaters both in Dodge City.  Following graduation, he moved to Wichita for a time and worked for Cain's Coffee.  He then returned to Dodge City where he worked as a custodian for Dodge City High School and later as a contractor for the United States Postal Service until his health no longer allowed him to work.  In his spare time, Dennis enjoyed poker games and car races.

He is survived by a brother, Neil Rumford and wife Leona of Dodge City; a sister, Cynthia Lambert of Hays; nieces and nephews; a great niece; and a great nephew.  Dennis is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and a nephew, Kyle Lambert.

Memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City on Thursday, October 3, 2024  at 10:30 AM with Pastor Jeff Hiers presiding.  A private family burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery in Jetmore at a later date.  There is no visitation as cremation will take place.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
