Dodge City - Dianna Rae Samples was born to Robert and Wilma Jean (Rockhold) Wylie on December 23, 1948 in Wichita. She passed away in Wichita, on March 5, 2019, reaching the age of 70 years.

Her growing up years were spent in the Wichita, and surrounding areas.

Dianna was the mother of two boys, Allen and Patrick.  She was devoted to them and lovingly cared for them.   It was a deep disappointment when they both died unexpectedly at a young adult age.  She talked often of them and had a longing to meet them in heaven.

She was a machinist by trade.  Her occupation took her to several communities, Wichita, Dodge City, and Hastings, Nebraska.

After her second son passed, she moved back to Dodge City, to be close to family.  She became acquainted with the Dodge City Mennonite church, and began to attend there with her sister-in-law, especially enjoying the sewing circle.  She sat by a table and cut many blocks for quilts, enjoying the thought that the finished product would benefit the ones that received them.  It seemed that there was a spiritual awakening during the latter years and she began to reach out more to others.  She enjoyed reading through the years.  When Dianna's sister, Kathy, moved into the same apartment complex, Dianna took a special interest in her, being there for her.

Those surviving are three brothers, David of Wichita, Robert of El Dorado, and Mike of Dodge City; one sister, Kathy of Dodge City; one half brother, George Laton; one granddaughter; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons.

The funeral service is planned for March 18, 2019 at the Dodge City Mennonite Church at 10:30 A.M. Monday morning. Memorials can be made to the Dianna Samples Memorial Fund. Private family burial will take place at Montezuma Mennonite Cemetery in Montezuma.
