Copeland - Donald D. Bryant, 96, died June 4, 2016 at Bethel Home in Montezuma. He was born on February 2, 1920 in Haviland, the son of B.Y. and Florence A. (Barnes) Bryant.

Don was raised on a farm near Cullison. He graduated from Cullison High School and went on to further his education at Southwestern University in Winfield on a basketball scholarship. Don served his country during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was stationed in Guam and several other islands during his enlistment in the Army Air Corp. On April 27, 1941, he married Doris DeWitt in Pratt. They celebrated 70 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on August 3, 2011. Don and Doris moved to Copeland in 1956. He was a longtime farmer and stockman. Don always enjoyed following his grandsons activities, attending many basketball and football games, track meets, and concerts.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Copeland.

Don is survived by a son David Bryant and wife Mary Lynne of Copeland; two grandsons, Michael Bryant and wife Randy, Blake Bryant and wife Kate all of Copeland; and three great grandchildren, Harper, Cooper, and Lawson Bryant. He is preceded in death by his wife, Doris; his parents; his step mother, Bertha Bryant; an infant son, Stephen Dwight Bryant; and three brothers, Dean, Charlie, and Raymond Bryant.

Funeral service will be held at Copeland United Methodist Church on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Scharleen Cross presiding. Burial will follow at Copeland Cemetery with military rites by the Copeland American Legion and the KSARNG Military Honors Unit. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Sublette on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 from noon to 8:00 P.M. Memorials are suggested to Copeland Methodist Church, Copeland Cemetery, or Bethel Home in care of the funeral home.
