Donald E. Crane, 84, died Monday, June 22, 2009 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains at Dodge City, KS. He was born on September 10, 1924 at Dodge City, KS the son of Donald E. Sr.and Ellen (Baird) Crane.

He married Pauline Diehl on October 12, 1947 in Dodge City, Kansas, she survives. Don was a lifelong farmer and stockman residing in Wright.

He was a member of First Christian Church, Win A Couple and Christian Mates Sunday School Classes, Wright Coop Board, Wright School Board, Grandview Township Board, President of Kansas Association of Wheat Growers.



Survivors include
two sons Bill and wife Lana Crane of Wright, Ed and wife Melissa Crane of Topeka and one daughter Trish and husband Ward Schraeder of Salina. Two sisters Marjorie and husband Doug Howarter of Dodge City, Mary-Ellen and husband Harley Folks of Garden City.
He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Bob Crane.

Funeral service will be held at First Christian Church on Friday, June 26, 2009 at 11:00 AM with pastor Gerald Burns and Mr.Larry Williams presiding. Burial will follow at Greencrest Cemetery in Dodge City, KS. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, June 25, 2009 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorials can be made to Hospice Of The Prairie or the First Christian Church in care of the funeral home.
