Sublette - Donald Gilchrist, 88, died August 27, 2017 at Brandon Woods at Alvamar in Lawrence.  He was born on March 25, 1929 in Plains,  the son of Seward Glen and Fern Eva (Garrison) Gilchrist.

Don attended Sublette schools, graduating from Sublette High School as Valedictorian in 1947.  On November 9, 1947, Don was united in marriage to Eileen Ochs.  They celebrated 68 years of marriage before Eileen passed away on March 28. 2016.  Don worked for 42 years for Northern Natural Gas Company.  He also owned and operated Gilchrist Electric for many years.  Don was most happy when surrounded by his family and especially his grandchildren.  Don enjoyed boating and water skiing with his children and later his grandchilren.  He liked when his family was all together, celebrating birthdays, holidays, or watching sports.   Don and Eileen helped those in need in the Sublette community for many years.

He was a lifelong member of the Sublette Christian Church.

Don is survived by a son Ron Gilchrist and wife Karen of Tomball, Texas; two daughters, Kathy Jo Lassmann and husband Fred of Augusta and Treena Mason and husband Ron of Lawrence; a brother, Robert Gilchrist of Avant, Oklahoma; sister, Delores Seabolt of Big Cabin, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Eileen.

Funeral service will be held at Sublette Christian Church on Saturday September 2, 2017 at 10:00 AM with Mr. Jery Bailey and Dr. Dave Sjeklocha presiding.  Burial will follow at Haskell County Cemetery in Sublette.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Sublette on Friday September 1, 2017 from noon to 8:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to the Sublette Christian Church in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com .
