Coldwater – Donald L. Owens, 80, died July 1, 2025 at Pioneer Lodge in Coldwater, Kansas. He was born on July 8, 1944 at Quinter, Kansas the son of Merritt and Viola (Masser) Owens.
Mr. Owens worked as a race horse trainer for numerous owners from the early 1960's to the 1990's before retiring after thirty plus years. He also enjoyed listening to country music especially Randy Travis and Vince Gill. He loved to go dancing, playing cards and dominos.
He is survived by one son Darren Owens of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one brother Gerald Owens of Dodge City, Kansas and one sister Jeanette Gregory of California. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Vance Owens and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery on Tuesday July 15, 2025 at 11:00 AM with Mr. Jeff Hiers presiding. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
