Dodge City - Donald L. Patton, 71, died April 17, 2014 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. He was born on March 14, 1943 at McMinnville, Oregon the son of James and Opal (Muntz) Patton.
He was a master electrician and was the owner and operator of Don's Electric in Dodge City for over 40 years. Don married Patricia Weiser on November 20, 1977 in Dodge City, she survives. He was previously married to Betty Clanton. Donald enjoyed spending time with his family and friends in his spare time. He loved the great outdoors and had a real passion for fishing.
He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Dodge City.
He is survived by his wife Patricia of the home; six daughters Genny Holden of Acworth, Georgia; Vickie Johnson of Ft. Worth, Texas; Shelly Hushbeck of Moundridge, Kansas; Chris Wiens of Summertown, Tennessee; Tonya Powell of Dodge City and Connie Workman of Summertown, Tennessee and four sons Donald Patton Jr. of Moundridge, Kansas; Randy Utley of Acworth, Georgia; John Rumsey of Offerle, Kansas; Josh Patton of Dana Point, California and a nephew Christopher Benson of Dodge City, Kansas. He is also survived by two sisters Jodi Scott of Cimarron, Kansas; Dorothy Davis of Dodge City and 39 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a granddaughter.
A Memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Monday, April 21, 2014 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Kirk Larson presiding. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
