Ingalls - Ingalls - Donald Joe Redger, 81, died April 17, 2025 at Brookdale of Dodge City. He was born on December 3, 1943 in Dodge City, Kansas the son of Henry and Julia (Unruh) Redger.
Don attended school in Ingalls and later in Montezuma. On March 22, 1964, he was united in marriage to Wanda Cross at the Cimarron Mennonite Church. They made their home in Ingalls, and Don worked at the feedmill. It was here that they began their family.
He enjoyed various professions throughout his life, but most notably was his time as a butcher and meat processor and as the crew chief at the Ingalls Café. For over 20 years, Don also drove a semi truck. Don was committed to serving his community. He served as Ingalls Township Trustee for 28 years, was on the Ingalls School Board approximately 10 years, and cared for the Ingalls Cemetery. One of his favorite activities was driving the school bus for several years. He had a strong work ethic and always strived to do his best for all those that he helped. He had a love for all animals, but nearest to his heart was his napping buddy, Maverick, the loveable dachshund.
Don is survived by his wife, Wanda of Ingalls; children, Donella Snyder of Ingalls, Kevin Redger and wife Brenda of Ingalls, Laura Gossen and husband Mel of Corn, Oklahoma, and Julia Guereca and husband Victor of Wichita; 28 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas Koehn and wife Ruth, Marvin Schmidt and wife Sharon, Sharon Redger, Myron Cross and wife Lana, Karen Upthagrove and husband Allen, Jean Thompson, John Cross, Ben Woods, Mary Sperry, and Retha Wittlake and husband Sam; and special family friend, Wanda Cross; along with a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Lois Redger, Elsie Redger, Bernice Koehn, Helen Schmidt, Ivan Redger and wife Bernice, Hank Redger, and Jimmy Redger; parents-in-law, Lyle and Doii Cross; brother-in-law, Roger Thompson; and sister-in-law, Alicia Woods.
Funeral service will be held at Cimarron Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Tom Boese presiding. Burial will follow at Ingalls Cemetery. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Cimarron on Friday, April 25, 2025 from 1:00 to 8:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 2:00-4:00PM.
