DONALD DALE SMITH

Dodge City - Brother Donald Dale Smith, 77, died March 19, 2014 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. He was born on October 13, 1936, the son of Garland B. and Goldie (Winsor) Smith on his grandparents farm south of Bucklin.

He married Phyllis (Shaffer) Gross on November 9, 1968 in Dodge City. Brother Smith served as youth director at the Bible Baptist Church in Dodge City. Brother Smith was a missionary to the Native Americans in the four corner area of Colorado. He lead them and many others to the Lord.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Smith of Dodge City; four sons, Dan Gross and wife Karen of Schererville, Indiana, Terry Gross and wife Mary of Colorado Springs, Steve Gross of Spearville, Dale Smith and wife Melba of Guymon, Oklahoma; four daughters, Debbie Smith and husband Allen of Bloom, Vivian Esplund and husband Alan of Dodge City, Liz Demuth and husband Joe of Dodge City, and Annie Fry of Great Bend; one sister, Myrna Hamilton and husband John of Dodge City; one brother, Eddie Winsor of Guymon, Oklahoma; special nieces, Kathy Flynn and husband John of Anadarka, Oklahoma, Connie Leon and husband Jose of Dodge City, LaRae Leon of Dodge City, and Lisa Lindholn and husband Marvin Jr. of Dodge City; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Smith, one daughter, Brenda Smith, and one granddaughter, Rose Marie Smith.

Funeral service will be held at the Bible Baptist Church in Dodge City on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Allen Smith presiding. Burial will follow at Bucklin Cemetery in Bucklin with Rev. Albert Shrock presiding. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Friday, March 21, 2014 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
