Obituary

Dodge City - Donald Lee Thomas, 74, died May 6, 2014 at his daughters home in Dodge City. He was born on February 4, 1940 in rural Ford County, the son Glen and Lena Lucille (Mullinex) Thomas.

He married Connie Mowry on December 25, 1960 in Aurrora, Colorado, she preceded him in death on May 10, 1998. Mr. Thomas worked as a master carpenter for many years with Jerry Droste Construction building many homes in the Dodge City area. He later worked for T.M. Deal Lumber for several years before retiring. He returned back to working helping open the Water's True Value Store and worked there until his health forced him to retire.

He was a member of the Dodge City Evening Lion's Club of Dodge City.

Mr. Thomas is survived by a son Michael Thomas and wife Kim of Peoria, Arizona; daughter Melanie Selensky and husband Terry of Dodge City; three grandchildren Brandi Thomas, Samantha Wasson, Anthony Selensky and four great grandchildren Brenden Thomas Selensky, Brayden Thomas, Saya Wasson and Jesse Wasson. He is also survived by five sisters Irene Lewis;Dorothy Mullinex; Carolyn Mix and husband Larry of St. John; Rose Arntt and husband John of Dodge City; Ruth Ann Stone of Lawrence; five brothers James Thomas and wife Linda of Newton; Charles Thomas and wife Carol of Dodge City; John Thomas and wife LeAndra of Dodge City; Richard Thomas and wife Velda of Dodge City; Kenneth Thomas and wife Tami of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Floyd Thomas, Gene Thomas and a sister Alice, two nephews Timothy Mix, Bill Gilbert and a niece Rose Pennington.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Jack Hanks Jr. presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 12:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Prairie Home Health in care of the funeral home.
