DODGE CITY - Donna Dee Marconnette, 80, died May 15, 2014 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. She was born on March 5, 1934 on the family farm near Ford, the daughter of L.E. (Jack) and Irene Maude (Sanders) Paulin.
Donna grew up in the Ford Community and attended schools there and graduated from Ford High School. She then went to the Secretarial School in Kansas City, and later to Lamar Junior College, Lamar, Colorado. Donna married Harold E. Marconnette on July 12, 1952 in Jetmore. He preceded her in death on October 11, 2005. She was a tax preparer for H & R Block of Dodge City for 22 years. Donna was also a homemaker, and an excellent seamstress. She loved traveling around the world and volunteering around the community.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, R.S.V.P, Women's Auxiliary, Lions Club, Womens Chamber and Boot Hill Guild all of Dodge City.
Donna is survived by four daughters, Paula Dee Thomas and husband (Skip) Boyd, Timnath, Colorado, Allynn Faye Cary and husband Steve, Aurora, Texas, Leslie Gayle Hausman and husband Kevin, Calumet, Michigan and Peggy Ann Adam and husband (Chuck) Charles E., Dodge City; a brother Ira Jay Paulin and wife Marcia, Holly, Colorado; a sister Virginia R. Helsel and husband George, Colorado Springs, Colorado; 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harold E. Marconnette; and an infant granddaughter Shandi Lynn Hall in 1980.
A celebration of life service will be held at First Christian Church, Dodge City on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. with Dr. Phil Scott presiding. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the guest book at Swaim Funeral Home from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Friday, May 23, 2014. Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church, Dodge City Lions Club, or Journey Of Hope, all in care of the funeral home. Journey of Hope is a cross country cycling trip, which 3 teams of 28 cyclists bike across the country in an effort to raise funds and awareness for people with disabilities in America.
