Dodge City - Donna L. (Slattery) Williams, 83, peacefully passed away to be with our Lord on June 21, 2025, in Dodge City. She was born on October 21, 1941, in Spearville, Kansas, to James C. and Esther (Dvorak) Slattery.
Donna was a graduate of Dodge City High School and Dodge City Community College Nursing School. She dedicated over 30 years of her life to nursing at Humana Hospital in Dodge City before retiring. Throughout her career, she received numerous awards for her exceptional nursing cre. Donna was an active member of the Nurses Association and volunteered for the American Red Cross. Donna took great pride in inspiring one of her daughters and three granddaughters to pursue careers in nursing. Additionally, she was a devoted member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she demonstrated it daily through her kindness and generosity. She was a wonderful mother, wife, daughter, grandmother, and friend. She found immense joy in reading the Bible and spending time with her family and friends.
On November 29, 1988, Donna married the love of her life, Julius R. Williams. They shared 23 years of marriage until his passing in 2011.
Donna is survived by her daughters, Brenda Maupin, Debra Israel, Jami Clarke and husband, Janet Williams, Debra Rincon and husband Eric; as well as eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Esther Slattery; her husband, Julius Williams; two daughters, Donna Bennett and Tammy Kreger; and a granddaughter, Theresa Hardin.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Father Wesley Schawe, Donna's granddaughter, Elisabeth Velazquez, and the Cervantes family.
A Rosary Vigil will be held at 7 PM on Sunday, June 29, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe. A funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 AM on June 30, 2025, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, with Father Wesley Schawe presiding. There will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place.
Memorial donations may be made to the Catholic Charities of Southwest Kansas, Hospice of the Prairie, or the Ford County Humane Society. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
