Dora Ashley was born on June 26, 1961, in Dodge City, to Glenn Dale and Rose Marie (Homer-Barnett) Ashley. She passed away on April 24, 2026, at St. Catherine's Hospital in Dodge City, reaching the age of 64.
As a young child, Dora lived in Jetmore. In 1977, the family moved to Dodge City, where Dora graduated from Dodge City High School in 1979. Following high school, Dora moved to Cimarron. She went to work for Cimarron Insurance, where she was known for her warm smile and caring nature. After the insurance agency closed, Dora went to work at White's Foodliner in Cimarron as the inventory clerk for the grocery store.
Dora went on to live a life filled with love and joy, especially for her feline companions. She always had at least two cats, most recently a calico and a Siamese, who brought her immense happiness. Her love for animals and easygoing personality made her a cherished friend and family member. Many will remember her for her kind heart and the laughter she brought into their lives.
She leaves behind three brothers, Glen Ashley of Dodge City, Marvin Ashley of Kiowa, and Eric Ashley and wife Tracy of Jetmore; five nieces and nephews, Tosha Ashley, Mason Ashley, Eric Ashley, Andrew Ashley, and Kyla Ashley; nine great nieces and nephews; and one great-great niece. Dora is preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 11:00 AM. with Mr. Jeff Hiers presiding. Visitation will take place at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, from at noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the family in care of the funeral home.
