DORIS J. BROWN

Dodge City - Doris J. Brown, 86, died August 3, 2015 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. She was born on June 10, 1929 at Ransom, Kansas the daughter of Chester and Mary (Ummel) Rider. She grew up in Ness County near Ransom on the family farm.

She married Floyd William Rollins in Dodge City. She later married Clifford C. Brown at Lubbock, Texas. They resided in Dodge City. Mr. Brown died on November 23, 1979. Doris was a homemaker and enjoyed knitting, puzzles and gardening.

Doris is survived by two sons, William E. "Bill" Rollins, Cimarron and Carl E. Brown, Dodge City; two daughters, Melanie Cornwell, Riverside, Missouri and Autumn Wittig, Pratt; five grandchildren and several great grandchildren; three sisters, Wanda Pierce, Wichita, Leveta Schneider, Ransom, and Becky Petrowsky, Afton, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Clifford Brown in 1979 and Floyd W. Rollins in 1990, a son Dickie Calvin Brown and a brother Keith Rider.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday, August 7, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. with Mr. Steve Ormord presiding. Burial will follow at Kansas Soldiers Home Cemetery in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, August 6, 2015 from Noon to 8:00 P.M.. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
