Obituary

DODGE CITY - Doris (Crawford) Eddington, 96, died Friday, October 8, 2010 at her home surrounded by family. She was born on July 6, 1914 at Sylvia the daughter of Reeves A and Jessie (Wagner) Crawford.

She moved with her family to Dodge City in 1914 and has been a lifelong resident of Dodge City. Doris graduated from Dodge City High School in 1932. She opened Doris The Florist of Dodge City in 1952 and retired in 1976. She enjoyed bridge and crossword puzzles.

Doris was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and P.E.O. Chapter DZ both of Dodge City.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Lowry of Cartersville, Georgia and Reid Eddington of Dodge City; a daughter, Claudia Eddington-Gibson of Dawsonville, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Christopher Lowry of Nashville, Tennessee, Benjamin Lowry of Valdosta, Georgia, Tyler Eddington of Evergreen, Colorado, Brooke Eddington of Napa, California, Chuck Gibson of Worthington, Ohio, and Carolyn, Heather and Shannon; two great grandchildren, Cameron and Reid Lowry of Valdosta, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Dr. Charles F. Lowry and Harold F. Eddington; a brother Joe R. Crawford; four sisters, Phyllis, Pauline, Geneva and Gene; and a grandson Michael Raymond Gibson.

Funeral service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Dennis Zimmerman and Rev. Regina Maas presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Monday, October 11, 2010 from Noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials can be made to P.E.O.
