Obituary

DODGE CITY - Doris Alfreda Rule, 96, died October 23, 2014 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains, Dodge City. She was born on December 2, 1917 at Clayton, the daughter of John Wesley and Marymellcena (Hagan) Blackwell.

On November 10, 1936 she married Wayne Rule at Oberlin. He preceded her in death in 1995. A longtime resident of Norton, Doris and Wayne owned and operated a dairy for many years. After their retirement, she and her husband owned a rock shop and attended many craft shows. Doris also enjoyed hand quilting.

She was a member of the Maple Grove Church of the Brethren of Norton.

Doris is survived by a son, Jerald Rule and wife Helen of Olathe; a daughter, Leta Henry and husband Gary of Dodge City; five grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, and a daughter, Mary Lou Rule.

Graveside service will be held at Norton Cemetery on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 1:00 PM with Deacon Norman Strayer presiding. There will be no public visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Presbyterian Manor of the Plains in care of the funeral home.
