DORIS ELAINE SCHRINER
Dodge City - Doris Elaine Schriner, 89, went to be with her Lord on February 8, 2014 at Good Samaritan Society, Dodge City, Kansas. She was born on August 26, 1924 at Gillette, Wyoming to Frank and Maude (Henderson) Watkins. At the age of 14 months, she moved with her family to Red Cloud, Nebraska where she grew up and attended schools.
On November 21, 1941, she married Marvin "Jim" Schriner at Smith Center, Kansas. To this union, three children were born; Marilyn Kay, Edward Ray, and Nancy Lynn. Doris was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, sewing, big family gatherings, church, and witnessing for the Lord Jesus Christ. Doris was a member of Grace Community Church. She taught Sunday School for 40 years at First Baptist Church and Grace Community Church. She dearly loved her grandchildren and spending time with them.
Doris is survived by three children, Marilyn Kay Antrim, and husband Denny Hensley of Seligman, Arizona; Edward Ray Schriner and wife Teri of Thornton, Colorado, and Nancy Lynn Kimbrel and husband Kent of Dodge City; nine grandchildren, Kim Raney and husband Cary, Dan Rudd and wife Kim, Angela Hensley, Tami Bee and husband Jeff, Jeremy Schriner and wife Amber, Jill Ekstrand and husband Jeff, Aimee Schriner, Ryan Kimbrel and wife Paula, and Nathan Kimbrel, 15 great grandchildren, one sister, Mary Jane Cline and husband Wyvern of Franklin, Nebraska, one sister in law, Betty Watkins of Spokane, Washington, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death on May 25, 2011 by her husband of almost 70 years, Marvin "Jim" Schriner, seven brothers, Raymond, Schuyler, Howard, Glen, Melvin, Johnny Dean, and Charles. Four sisters Norma, Dorothy, Bernice, and Mildred.
Funeral service will be held at Grace Community Church on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. with Pastor Kirk Larson presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
