Dorothy H. Byers Davis, 89, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita where she was called home to be with her Lord. She was born on August 6, 1919 at Dodge City the daughter of Frederick and Anna Elizabeth (Feebeck) Gall.

A longtime resident of Dodge City, Mrs. Davis was a homemaker. She married Kenneth S. Byers on July 16, 1939 in Garden City. He preceded her in death on September 21, 1984. She married Russell W. Davis on August 7, 1992 in Dodge City. He preceded her in death on January 5, 2001.

She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Dodge City and belonged to various organizations of the church including being a past trustee.

Survivors include one daughter, Judy Pippitt and husband Larry of Newton; one son, Dennis Byers and wife Linda of Wichita; one stepson, Richard Davis and wife Carlene of Springfield, MO; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, three sisters, and one great granddaughter.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 17, 2009 at 10:30 AM at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City with Rev. Randall Jahnke presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Public visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2009 from 12:00 to 8:00 PM.
