DOROTHY L. NELSON

Cimarron - Dorothy Lee Nelson, 92, died September 23, 2012 at The Shepherd's Center, Cimarron, Kansas. She was born on May 11, 1920 at Ingalls, Kansas, the daughter of Blucher and Edna (Farr) Fauley.

Dorothy grew up in Ingalls, and attended schools there. She was a graduate of Bethany College, Lindsborg, Kansas, receiving her bachelor of arts degree in music. She taught music lessons in her home for many years. She married Hedborn Nelson. He preceded her in death in 1977. She had been a Cimarron resident for many years. She served the Cimarron United Methodist Church for over fifty five years as their organist, and was a devoted member.

She was also preceded in death by a son Dan Nelson in 1984.

Survivors include, one daughter Peggy Reist and husband Jerry, Ingalls, one sister Lavon Timken, Cimarron, two granddaughters, Andrea Hogue and husband Phil, Dodge City, Victoria Reist, Wright, five greatgrandchildren, and several nieces and one nephew.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at the Cimarron United Methodist Church, Cimarron, with Rev. Mike Keating presiding. Private family inurnment will follow the services at Cimarron Cemetery. There will be no visitation as cremation has been requested. Memorials are suggested to Shepherd's Center, Cimarron, in care of Swaim Funeral Home, 1901 6th Avenue, Dodge City, Kansas, 67801.
