Obituary

DODGE CITY - Dorothy Marie Roesener, 89, departed this life on June 26, 2018 just three days short of her 90 th Birthday to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior.  She was born on June 29, 1928 in Rush County, the daughter of Theodore and Helen (Wagner) Brauer.

Dorothy was raised on a farm near Nekoma and attended a one-room country school. On October 9, 1947 she married Werner Roesener at Peace Lutheran Church of Alexander. After their marriage they moved to the farm south of Dodge City where they raised their family.

She loved serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Dorothy was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church in rural Ford County which later became Christ the King Lutheran Church in Dodge City. She taught Sunday school, helped make mission quilts for Lutheran World Relief, assisted with meals for church events and many other activities. Dorothy was a homemaker and loved helping her husband with the farm and dairy cattle, raising her children and attending her grandchildren's school and sporting events. Family was very important to her.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Bill Roesener and wife Linda of Manhattan, Montana; Bonnie Smalley and husband Don of Dodge City; David Roesener and wife Sharlene of Dodge City; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Werner; her daughter, Carolyn; and an infant brother, Vernon.
