Sublette - Dorsey G. Stapleton, 71, died August 19, 2014 at Garden Valley Retirement Village, Garden City. He was born on January 23, 1943 in rural Haskell County, the son of John and Mildred (Birney) Stapleton.

Dorsey graduated from Sublette High School in 1961. He served in the Army Reserves. On December 28, 1970, he married Roma Weeks in Sublette. Dorsey was a spray pilot for many years and served for 10 years on the USD 374 Board of Education. Dorsey had many interests including flying, farming, and cattle but his greatest enjoyment was that of his children and grandchildren.

Dorsey is survived by his wife, Roma Stapleton of Sublette; two daughters, Kami Stapleton of Stigler, Oklahoma and Jami Stapleton of Garden City; three sons, Shawn Stapleton and wife Susan, Jay Stapleton and wife Kristi, and Brock Stapleton and wife Stephanie all of Sublette; step-father, David C. Loucks of Satanta; two sisters, Linda Watson and husband Jeff of Cimarron and Loretta Holland and husband Bill of Sublette; two brothers, David Stapleton of Meade and Danny Stapleton and wife Janice of Liberal; sister-in-law, Connie Stapleton of Norman, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren; and one great granddaughter. He is preceded in death by his father, John Stapleton; his mother, Mildred Loucks; and one brother, Delwin Stapleton.

Graveside service will be held at Haskell County Cemetery, Sublette, on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 9:30 AM with Mr. Jay Stapleton presiding.
