Wichita - Duane Darren Martinez, 47, died January 15, 2014 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita . He was born on April 26, 1966 at Dodge City, the son of Phillip Alfonso "Poncho" and Juanita (Trujillo) Martinez.

Duane lived his early childhood in Dodge City and moved to Ulysses where he attended schools. He moved to Wichita in 1979. Duane was a cook for various restaurants in Wichita. He enjoyed playing cards, pool, and liked to draw. Family was very important to him and enjoyed spending time with them.

Survivors include his mother of Wichita; three sisters, Marissa Marfield and husband Jason of Leavenworth, Deborah Bennington and husband Allen of Augusta and Charlene Castaneda of Wichita; a brother, Dwight Martinez of Leavenworth and foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Galen Giesbrecht of Ulysses.

Duane was preceded in death by his father and a sister Felicia.

Vigil service will be at 9:30 A.M Friday, January 24, 2014 at Cathedral of Our Lady Of Guadalupe, Dodge City. Funeral Mass will be held at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Terrance Klein presiding. Inurnment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
