DULCIE GLORIA DANIELS TETER
Dulcie Gloria Daniels Teter, age 93, passed away December 16, 2013 in Dodge City. Dulcie was born December 21, 1919, the daughter of Herbert Wallace and Elsie Trotman Foote Daniels in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
She spent her early years growing up along the seashores of Brisbane, attending business school and working before she met her husband, George Orvin Teter, who was an American soldier in World War II stationed as a draftsman in the Brisbane headquarters of General Douglas MacArthur. They were married on July 4, 1944 in Brisbane, Australia. After discharge, George was shipped home to Protection and Dulcie remained in Australia until she came to America with a group of war brides on a Red Cross ocean liner with their 13 month old son Winton in April 1945. She then traveled by train to Kansas where she lived in Protection on a farm with her family, where daughter Ann was born. The family moved to Dodge City in 1953 where she lived the remainder of her life, until the last few years living with her daughter Ann near Spearville.
She is survived by her brother Cecil Daniels, Mackay, Queensland, Australia; sister in law Roberta Teter, King George, Virginia; son Winton Teter and wife M'Liss, San Antonio, TX; daughter Ann Warner, Spearville; grandchildren, Wendi and Sean Kerwin, Round Rock, TX, Walter and Amy Teter, Dallas, TX, Matthew and Cindy Teter, San Antonio, TX, Aaron and Ayana Teter, Pittsburgh, PA, Monica and Dustin Walker, Seymour, TX, Melissa and Erick Wright, Gainesville, TX, Marcella and John Holman, Spearville, Willis Warner III, Dallas, TX, and Myrinda and Justus Freeman, New Orleans, LA; great grandchildren, Zachary Teter, Colleen and Anna Kerwin, Sarah Carlin, Ellie and Jack Teter, Katelyn and Madlyn Teter, Evangeline, Naomi and Ezra Teter, Mariah, Marissa and Maleah Walker, Grace Wright; and one great-great granddaughter, Elena Carlin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1991; son in law, Willis Warner; brothers, Wallace and William Daniels; sister, Thelma Shaw; and her mother and her father.
Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Aaron Teter presiding. Burial will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Protection Cemetery in Protection. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday, December 20, 2013 from Noon until 8:00 PM.
