Obituary

Montezuma - Dwight Pearl Watson, Sr., 83, died February 23, 2014 at The Shepherd's Center, Cimarron. He was born on August 2, 1930 at Ashland, KS the son of Otis P. and Nellie (Moore) Watson.

Dwight was raised in Ashland and attended school there. On November 28, 1952, he married Raylene McQueen in Dalhart, Texas. She survives. They lived in Ashland where Dwight worked for the City of Ashland. In July of 1967, they moved to Montezuma where Dwight served as the city superintendent for the City of Montezuma until his retirement in 1993. Dwight enjoyed camping and traveling. He and Raylene took many trips together on the motorcycle.

In addition to his wife Raylene, Dwight is survived by three sons, Dwight Watson, Jr. and wife Valerie of Montezuma, Duff Watson and wife Sue of Beloit, and Daron Watson and wife Debbie of Montezuma; four daughters, Colleen Lauer and husband Dennis of Kansas City, Susan Little and husband Brent of Hays, Jeanette Barber and husband Roger of Wheatland, Wyoming, and Dian Lyons of Denver, Colorado; 17 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Frances Watson; a brother, Otis Watson; two sisters, Wanda Leachman and Juanita Morton; and three grandchildren, Brad Watson, Monica Watson, and Logan Watson.

Graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Montezuma on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Montezuma on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 from noon to 8:00 P.M. Memorials are suggested to The Shepherd's Center in care of the funeral home.
