Sublette - Earnest "Chuck" Barkdoll, 81, died November 24, 2017 at Southwest Plains Medical Center in Liberal.  He was born on December 6, 1935 in Miami, Oklahoma the son of Ora and Violet (Simpson) Barkdoll.

Chuck grew up in Miami, Oklahoma and attended school there.  On June 13, 1968, he married Esther Kerfoot in Guymon, Oklahoma.  She survives.  After their marriage, they lived throughout Kansas and Oklahoma before settling in Horace.  While there, Chuck owned and operated a scrap yard from 1976 to 1988.  In 1988, they moved from Horace and owned a dairy until 1994.  Returning to Horace in 1994, Chuck and Esther reopened the scrap yard.  Their last move was to Sublette in August of 1997.  Chuck worked with his son as Barkdoll Recycling, later purchasing the business.  He continued to operate it until his health no longer allowed him to work.  Chuck enjoyed trading with people, always trying to get the best deal.  He was known in his family for his joking and playing of pranks on others.  His orneriness will be missed by all.

Chuck is survived by his wife Esther Barkdoll of Sublette; a son Earnest Barkdoll of Forgan, Oklahoma; two daughters, Charmin Williams of Woodward, Oklahoma and Lynn Moss of Hoxie; one sister, Nancy Atkinson of Tennessee; 17 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Herman, Leonard, and Carl Barkdoll; and two sisters, Harless and Louellen Barkdoll.
