Obituary

Offerle - Ed Molitor, 95, of Offerle, Kansas passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Manor of the Plains in Dodge City, Kansas.  He was born on February 18, 1927 at Offerle, Kansas the son of Charles Carl and Lenora Alice Baier Molitor in their home south of Offerle.

Ed attended school at Offerle and graduated from high school there. He enlisted in the Navy during World War II working in the medical field. After the war was over, he came back to Offerle and got involved in farming with his Father. He met Peggy Herzog, his future wife, and they were married on October 1, 1953. They had four children Kirk, Eric, Aaron and Sarah. Ed and Peggy were married for 67 years before Peggy's passing in December 2020. Ed and Peggy were long time members of Zion Lutheran Church of Offerle.

Ed was involved with farming and ranching for many years. He enjoyed growing crops and running cattle. He was always active in the community serving on Church boards, school board, coop board, conservation board and Southwest Kansas District #3 Groundwater board. Ed also served as Ford County Commissioner for two terms starting in the mid 90's. He enjoyed working with people to try and get problems solved or to make improvements. Ed always had a story or a joke to tell and could talk to anyone. Ed loved to eat the good meals Peggy served and visit with his family or anyone else who might stop by.

Ed is survived by his four children, Kirk Molitor and wife Shannon of Spearville, Eric Molitor, Aaron Molitor both of Offerle and Sarah Molitor Riedel and husband Bryan of Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Ed and Peggy have 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters Helene, Beth and Frances.

Funeral service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church on Wednesday October 26, 2022 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Stanley Palmer presiding.  Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Offerle.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church in care of the funeral home. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
