Moscow - Edgar Martinez, 42, died December 24, 2020 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City. He was born on February 16, 1978 in Hidalgo, Mexico, the son of Gabriel and Maria Martinez.

Edgar moved with his family from Mexico to Satanta in 1988. The family then moved to Moscow, where Edgar graduated from Moscow High School in 1996. After graduation, Edgar attended Southwest Kansas Technical School to study auto mechanics. He worked for Foss Ford as a mechanic for thirteen years. Edgar then farmed before joining his brother, Ivan, in operating a trucking business, delivering feed to area feed yards. Edgar was a proud father to Angel and loved attending her school activities and sporting events. In his spare time, Edgar liked to work on his truck, having cookouts with family, and spending time with his nieces and nephews.

Edgar is survived by his parents of Moscow; a daughter Angel Martinez and her mother Ashley Chaffin of Sublette; two brothers, Gabriel Martinez and wife Erica of Austin, Texas and Ivan Martinez and wife Elsa of Wichita; a sister, Mireya Verheeck and husband Greg of and many other family and friends.

Vigil Service will be held at St. Aphonsus Catholic Church in Satanta on Monday, December 28, 2020 at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 10:00 AM with Father Kola Prakash presiding. Burial will follow at Haskell County Cemetery in Sublette. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Sublette, on Monday, December 28, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the family in care of the funeral home.
