Edith Jennie (Uden) Figger, 92, died Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Shepherd's Center in Cimarron. She was born on October 9, 1918 in Ford County, the daughter of Rudolph and Clara (Taylor) Uden.
Edith grew up in Dodge City and attended Dodge City schools. On July 3, 1937, she married Homer Figger in Dodge City. He preceded her in death on December 12, 1993. Edith and Homer made their home in Ensign. She worked as a waitress in several area restaurants. Edith enjoyed cooking, sewing, and camping.
Mrs. Figger was a member of the First Christian Church of Dodge City.
Edith is survived by five sons, Leon Figger and wife Phyllis of Cimarron, Richard Figger and wife Kathy of Haggard, Jim Figger and wife Bonnie of Denver, North Carolina, Robert Figger and wife Evelyn of Satanta, and Rod Figger and wife Diane of Montezuma; three daughters, Judy Crick and husband Larry of Cimarron, Anne Figger and companion George of Dodge City, and Brenda Hayes and husband Al of Ingalls; one sister, Eileen Salmon of Wichita; and numerous grandchildren, great grand children, and one great great grandchild. In addition to her husband, Homer, she was preceded in death by an infant son; a daughter, Betty Hale; three brothers, Charlie, Ralph, and Lee; and two sisters, Myrtle and Dollene.
Funeral service will be held at First Christian Church of Cimarron on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at 10:30 AM with Mr. David Johnson presiding. Burial will follow at Cimarron Cemetery in Cimarron. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Cimarron on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 from noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials can be made to the Shepherd's Center of Cimarron or to the Ford County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
